What is a Fair Use Policy?

< Back

A Fair Use Policy (FUP) improves the general user experience of all internet users. Internet service providers can control and moderate the usage of bandwidth by all customers. A FUP prevents the actions of internet hungry and heavy-users from deteriorating internet performance for other users on a network.

Heavy or excessive users are generally those who use peer-to-peer (P2P) or file-sharing software. They are usually people who upload and download large files, such as movies and music, on a daily basis. These users take up excessive bandwidth, slowing the connection down for everyone else.
